Climate Conditions
- The RubberCover EPDM membrane usually requires 30 minutes to relax. However, in cold weather conditions, several points must be taken into account in order to achieve a good quality application.
- Lower temperatures increase the relaxation time. Folds in the membrane will also take longer to disappear. We therefore recommend to limit the number of folds in the membrane to facilitate the installation of a fully adhered system in cold weather conditions.
- Certain precautions must be taken when applying adhesives and primers in cold weather conditions (below 10°C)
- Use adhesives and primers stores at room temperature between 15°C and 25°C. The use of insulated and heated boxes may be necessary in very cold weather.
-Carry out an adhesion test to determine the drying time of the adhesive.
-If the materials become too thick, stop installation immediately and use other fresh products.
-Certain combinations of temperature and humidity may cause condensation to form on the surface of the products. If this occurs, stop application immediately and wait for better ambient conditions before drying the surface and applying an additional layer of adhesive. - The installation and positioning of large RubberCover EPDM sheets may be difficult in windy conditions. Prevent that any wind gets under the membrane during installation. Use temporary ballast to keep the membrane in place until final securement to the substrate. Stop the installation during stormy conditions.
